Vision
Nursing in PORT Sudan will be at the forefront in developing of nursing as a profession and high quality health services.

PHILOSPHY OF THE PROGRAM
The program is based on the concept that the client is a bio-psycho-social human being with physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. In nursing care, each individual client must be viewed as a whole human being, with unique needs (individual center), not as a nursing task.
Nursing practice applied with respect to the client’s social, cultural, beliefs, and religions values, that do not harm health.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To educate, train and graduate qualified nurses who are able to give holistic nursing care in any health setting to individuals, families, and communities at all care levels
- Uphold the concepts of health promotion & maintenance and improvement of the quality of life in the country.
- Undertake practice-based research to improve quality of nursing care for suitable development of the community.
- To provide nursing care services at the various levels of the health care system.
- Develop critical thinking skills.
- Work and collaborate with health team and provide guidance to junior staff to improve health care delivery.
7- Apply nursing professional ethics and values in performing day-to-day functions.
8- Train student for continuing gain new knowledge and skills for personal and professional growth.
EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES
In the Knowledge domain:
- Acquire learning skills in the direction of self- reliance, confidence and techno-competence so as to pursue continuing & postgraduate studies.
- Understand the scientific basis of Nursing Sciences
- Understand the principles of commonly used procedures in nursing practice
- Acquire basic knowledge of the scientific method and information technology skills in order to cope with recent and advanced technologies.
- Understand the health care delivery system in the country as well as the various sectors involved in health development.
- Comprehend the nurses’ roles and functions in the health care delivery system in the community, primary health care, secondary health care in hospitals and tertiary care.
- Acquire in depth understanding of sources of risk to patients so as to avoid & manage such situations
In the Skills Domain:
- Provide promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing services to the clients.
- Apply the concepts, principles and techniques of nursing and related sciences. continuously
- Apply nursing care to clients in the different branches and at different levels of health
- Apply procedures for dealing with emergency situations.
- Perform nursing tasks skillfully without exposing himself or others to hazards.
- Operate relevant diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the ward
- Apply a high standard of asepsis where necessary, cost effective operation, cleanliness and tidiness
- Perform administrative tasks in the ward and other work places.
- Apply total quality assurance protocols in the ward & other work place
In the Attitudes Domain:
- Develop a high standard of moral and professional ethics.
- Show respect to the culture and values of the patient in providing the quality nursing care based on the needs of the client.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and health team.
- Work cooperatively, harmoniously with other members of the health team
- Cooperate with relevant sectors, in order to improve the health of individuals, families, specific population groups and the community.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
The candidate must meet the following requirements:
-Secondary school certificate (Biology).
-Conform to the standards of medical fitness set by the training authority.
-Pass the personal interview
-Commit to the rules & regulations of Port Sudan College.
DEGREE AWARD
The student will award the degree of BSc by the collage scientific board after completing the program successfully
CURRICULUM DESIGN
The duration of the program:
The B Sc degree program Duration is four years, each one consists of two semesters.The duration of each semester is 15 weeks. In each semester, students are offered a number of courses, which include theoretical, lab practice, clinical practice, and field training.
At the end of each semester, the student sits for examinations on all courses he received in the semester.
The curriculum follows an adjusted annual system. Each course has a specified number of credit hours.
Teaching and learning strategies:
1- This curriculum is based on the competencies needed from the graduates. The educational outcomes indicate the cumulative learning on graduation. Students & staff are guided by these outcomes throughout the program.
2- The curriculum is student centered which offers active participation & practice self-learning as much as he /she can do so.
3- The approach to learning experiences is based on holistic nursing and problem solving methods.
4- Practical training represents a major component of the program.
5- In this curriculum all nursing decisions and actions are based on adequate screening and management of the patient with the ultimate aim of the promotion & maintenance of health, the prevention & curing illness and rehabilitation.
Teaching and learning setting:
1- Class room teaching.
2- Training skills lab.
3- MCH, Hospital, Handicaps, Home care, School and Nursing home for Practical training.
Degree awarded:
On successful completion of the Bsc. Nursing program and achievement of the requirements of this curriculum, the candidate will be awarded the degree of Bsc. Nursing.
Students’ assessment:
- assesment consist of continuous and final assessment
- Tests of formative nature will also be used for immediate feedback
- Written exam include MCQS, short note, matching questions and problem solving
- Practical exam consist of OSPE, OSCE & clinical cases
- the theoretical part represent 40%
- practical & clinical parts represent60 %
- The PortSudan College General Examination Regulations & the special regulations of the nursing program shall be applied

- Examination results Analysis
- Total review Self-evaluation (every 2 years)
- External evaluation (every 4 years)
Examination Regulations
These regulations should be read together with the general examination regulations of The PortSudan alahlia College.
- The student who is absent from 25% or more of the course time will not be allowed to sit for the exam of the course.
- In the practical courses, the student mark of the course is composed of 20-30 % to term work and70- 80% to the final examination.
- The final examination mark is 40% for the theory and 60% for the practical in nursing courses.
- In all practical and clinical nursing courses, the student is required to satisfy the examiners in the theoretical and clinical or practical components independently.
- The final examinations will consist of written papers (MCQ and modified short essays), OSPE, OSCE, practical and clinical exam in practical nursing courses.
- A student who absents himself from examination of subject or part of it with acceptable reason must sit for substitute for all parts of the subject.
- A student will not allow to sit for exam of any subject during sick list period.
